A few days ago, I came across an article called Five Reasons You Should Not Invest In Seo This Year. Usually, I don’t read this type of article but decided to give it a try. And guess what? I really regretted. Because after finishing it, my only thought was: are you serious??? How can you even write this kind of text about SEO when it is and probably will be for a long time a very important traffic source for most of us. I am not an SEO expert, but I know and have experienced many times how powerful SEO is for business. So, I decided to point out my five reasons why you should not stop investing in SEO in 2016.
1. A well-optimized website can survive any algorithm change
Yes, many people are complaining that Google is updating it’s algorithm too often and that websites are seeing significant decreases in traffic from the search engine after each of these changes. But how is it that while ones are complaining, others feel almost no impact during these updates? Their traffic is steady and their rankings are keeping high. That’s because they are wisely investing in effective SEO tactics. They do not try to game the system. So they do not get penalized and their positions stay almost the same.
Let’s take a look at couple of examples from the companies I work:
These are the statistics from two different websites in two different countries that show traffic from Google for the past two years. As you can see the traffic flow is steady and even rising every year. That’s because we carefully invested in qualified SEO specialists.
2. Don’t cheat and you won’t get penalized
If you read the article I mentioned before, the author wrote that Google algorithm is evolving and it is very hard to game the system. My question would be, why the hell should you do that? It is natural that if you try to cheat on social media, you get banned. And it’s great because cheaters make the competition unfair. The same goes to any other marketing channel.
So why should it be different in SEO? Instead of trying to game the system, you should better optimize your website for SEO by the rules. And, make sure you do it better than your competitors. If you’re not a specialist, then hire one.
3. Strong user experience is part of SEO
Yep. User experience has been a part of SEO for quite some time. Google is smart enough to see if your website is attractive to visitors. That’s why optimizing your website for better user experience is a must. Provide exceptional content, make it easy to navigate and optimize for every device your customer might use and you will see wonders. And this is just a tiny part of what could be done to the website. If your visitors like what they see, then Google will like it as well.
4. You can have the best website in all universe, but without traffic it is useless
Yes, this is old, but very often ignored lesson should be carved on every wall. Optimizing your website to increase the conversion rate is a must for every business. But first of all, you need to have those visitors to get any conversions. And Google is still one of the strongest forces when it comes to getting traffic to your website. It can bring you thousands of targeted visitors and all you need is convince them to buy from you 🙂 How cool is that?
Remember I was showing two graphics from two different companies at the beginning? Both companies get a large amount of conversions from search engines. Up to 60% of total conversions come straight from Google. How can you even consider ignoring it?
5. You shouldn’t concentrate on one marketing tactic
Marketing is not a single-channel strategy anymore. If you want to be successful, you have to invest in many channels. If you are focusing on user experience, do not ignore other tactics such as SEO, social media, content marketing, customer service, etc. Marketing is a huge puzzle made of small parts. If you lose one, your won’t get the whole picture. The same goes for marketing. You cannot ignore other tactics just because you think that one is better than others. There will always be something new and something better.
That’s my 5 reasons why I still think it is important to invest in SEO. What is your opinion on this topic? If you have something to add I welcome you to leave a message on Twitter, Facebook or just send an email to me.
